Duck and Cover Breaking News
DAC AUTUMN/WINTER 2011
This season see Duck and Cover build on the success of their urban/utility products whilst expanding a work wear influence in the collection. These are not old heritage pieces, but strong modern interpretations of this key trend with the unique Duck and Cover DNA. They have refocused the denim collection to incorporate this work wear direction along with a range of key on-trend work and utility detailed bottoms.
The season is split into 2 halves. The first is inspired by a hybrid of dockworker and work wear detailing. Colour evolves from cold metallic blue hues through to desert shades accented with pops of bright colour. Detailing is always a core focus of the brand DNA, featuring this season multifunction ‘smart’ pockets, cocoon hoods and heavy profile stitching. Key pieces include the denim jacket shape in pique fleece, gillets, and rib cuffed denims. Deep funnel neck shapes, high necks that zip into hoods and graphical interpretations of fairisle patterns are also key new developments.
The second half of the season takes a military twist on urban street wear, whilst introducing warmer insulative fabrics such as washed corduroy, shearling lining, compact melton wool, bonded fleece. A neutral based palette includes urban neo-blacks and greys mixed with military khaki and desert, green, and red. The shirt jacket range remains important to the brand, a key style being in denim chambray, hooded fleece and lined in shearling.
The Duck and Cover easy commercial pieces range from the ‘oxford’ weave check shirts, uniquely detailed polo shirts, updated crew and half funnel necks in rib sweatshirt and 12gg knitwear, 5gg detailed knitwear-jackets, and a strong collection of shearling trimmed outerwear. Wash treatments and attention to finishes overall are key and give a character to the collection that feels modern but authentic.
