Duck and Cover Breaking News
DAC SPRING 2011
British brand Duck and Cover present a new collection for the urban dweller.
January – Contemporary military is the foundation for the new season – Colour evolves from the khaki and woodland hues of autumn 2010, moving into army uniform browns and earthy neutrals, accented with flashes of purple and bottle green. Neo black, white and melange grey maintain an urban aspect.
Detailing is deconstructed with reversed out seaming and signature heavy stitch detailing a core philosophy for the season. Fabrics centre on natural fibres with dry wax treatments and army scrim aertex. Key is the evolution of outerwear and urban track-pants in compact, coated fleece and jersey. Tradition versus technology, Function versus fashion!
February – Futuristic and technical, taking inspiration from the sci-fi sequel ‘Tron’ and ‘smart’ sports performance. Iconic silhouettes are brought ‘back to the future’ with ergonomic, protective detailing and dynamic contour seaming. Colour forms around the deepest midnight blue and murky shades of navy, hi-lighted with neon red. Fabrics combine natural and synthetic performance.
Circuitry imagery and high definition laser detailing add dynamism to the collection as ventilated mesh, invisible closures, 3D moulding, hidden compartments and intelligent branding update the core brand philosophy.
March- the DAC design studio presents a hybrid of British heritage and urban outdoors. Nautical, cycling and festival camping influences stand out whilst intelligent detailing is technical and ultra modern. Saturated brights and bleached out pastels are colour clashed, and combined with black, dune and athletic grey melange for a sharper, fresher palette.
Pixel and digital graphic imagery and branding are represented on t-shirts and shirt plaids. Wash treatments, bias detailing, pique structures and customised and contrasting effects make for a functional and technical fusion.
The denim line focuses on updating and reworking the iconic 5 pocket jean. Considered modernist detail and branding, attention to stitching and finishing, and innovative laundry processing remain an essential thought process behind the DAC collection. Key fits are 3D engineered, Lo-crotch tapered and narrower parallel leg silhouettes. The resurgent chambray shirt and progressive denim outerwear unify the line.
Duck and Cover continues to represent a lifestyle to inspire. Ready for anything!
